Vesak Day 2556 BE

For Buddhists around the world, Vesak is the most awaited day each year. Vesak commemorates three major events in Buddhism, the birth, perfection, and the death of Buddha Gautama (Siddharta Gautama). Buddha Gautama was believed by Buddhists as the major figure of the founder of this religion that teaches love and compassion to fellow human beings.

Viewing this Vesak day 2556 BE/2012 ceremony at Borobudur Temple, Central Java, this place is one of the central celebration of Vesak Day in South East Asia where the procession ended at the top of this location. Vesak ended with the Pradaksina procession (walking around Borobudur Temple without speaking) and release hundreds of lanterns into the air. However, this once a year events not only invite the interest of the Buddhists and foreign tourists, but also hundreds of photographers to capture the moment in this historical sites of cultural heritage in this world.
